I was brought up in outback Australia, worked on cattle stations (ranches), was a bit of an expert in handling and riding horses
spent eight years in London and Paris, drawing and painting,
worked for many years in the newspaper industry as an illustrator and art director,
wrote children's books, short stories, broadcasts, articles, book and art reviews, designed sets and costumes for drama, opera and ballet companies,
married Australian composer, Betty Beath (with whom I have written children's operas, song cycles and a travel book),
travelled, with Betty, in Indonesia, Mexico and the USA,
now I work as a freelance artist and writer, specialising in children's books, am interested in the visual arts, languages,
music and theatre.
